Sliding contact lines, also known as conductor bars, are power transmission systems designed to supply electricity to moving equipment. The main types include single-pole aluminum conductor bars, single-pole copper conductor bars, multi-pole safety conductor bars, and steel conductor bars. Among these, single-pole conductor bars, multi-pole tubular conductor bars, and seamless conductor bars are categorized as safety conductor bars, while steel conductor bars are classified as non-safety conductor bars.


 

Functionality and Design

Sliding contact lines are essential for providing continuous power to mobile equipment, which frequently changes position. The system consists of multiple conductors laid parallel to the movement track of the equipment, connected to a power source. Mobile equipment is equipped with current collectors that draw power from these conductors. As the equipment moves, the current collectors move synchronously, continuously supplying power to the equipment, enabling uninterrupted operation. The sliding contact line system includes three main components: the sheath, conductors, and current collectors, along with auxiliary components.

1. Sheath: This semi-enclosed tubular component is the main body of the sliding contact line. It can house 3-16 conductors, which are electrically insulated from each other to ensure safety and prevent electric shock during maintenance. 2. Conductors: Primarily made of copper, common sizes include 10mm², 16mm², and 25mm² cross-sectional areas. These conductors are embedded within the sheath to provide power.

3. Current Collectors: These consist of a set of brush holders running inside the sheath, driven by a fork or towing chain attached to the mobile equipment (e.g., cranes, trolleys, electric hoists). They synchronize with the equipment's movement, transmitting power from the conductors to the motor or control elements. The use of plastic in place of steel or copper minimizes the need for additional insulation or compensation lines, reducing installation materials and costs.
4. Convenience: The multi-conductor system is housed within a single sheath, simplifying assembly. Standardized brackets, connection clips, and suspension devices make installation, adjustment, and maintenance straightforward and efficient.


Particularly, the single-pole H-type safety conductor line has significant improvements in protection level and insulation, ensuring safe and reliable operation. These safety conductor lines are suitable for dusty and humid environments and can be equipped with dust seals and hand protection when the contact line is close to personnel (e.g., in applications like Akapp). The current collector operates at speeds below 300 meters per minute.
